Singapore’s multiethnic population enjoys the country’s clean environment and stable economy. The country has a literacy rate of 99.5 percent, low crime rates and one of the best public health systems in the world.

To accommodate a growing population in 1965, the government built up and enlarged the nation’s first international airport. The country soon became a major transit point for travelers to and from Asia and other parts of the world. Today, Singapore is a global hub for business and tourism- especially for Chinese businessmen conducting business in Asia. Located just off the southernmost point of mainland Asia, Singapore has direct transportation links to its neighbors Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. The country also has a busy seaport that facilitates global trade. In addition to air travel, Singaporeans also take to water to get around; several ferry services link the island city with different districts.

Numerous rose gardens dot the city’s landscape, while several lakes teem with wildlife like ducks and swans. From natural wonders to economic stability, one other outstanding quality about Singapore is that it is one of the world’s most efficient governments. Ranked number seven on the World Economic Forum’s Global Competiveness Rankings for 2016- 2017, the country consistently tops lists measuring economic strength and infrastructure development. In addition to its international airport, Singapore also boasts one of the world’s largest ports. Its transportation system is also one of the best- with both local trains and buses available throughout almost all districts. In addition to efficient transportation options,Singapore also boasts an efficient educational system that regularly churns out top performers in academia globally.
